In 2015 Kwang-Hyun Kim was appointed the chief conductor of Wonju Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared as a guest conductor with various European orchestras, including the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the State Philharmonic Orchestra in Craiova, and the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra in the Czech Republic. He has also conducted major Korean orchestras, such as the Korean, KBS, and Daegu Symphony Orchestra and the Busan, Gyeonggi, Suwon, and Bucheon Philharmonics. Equally at home in the opera world, he has conducted Cavalleria rusticana, Don Giovanni,La traviata, and Carmen in Germany and South Korea. He studied with Hun-Joung Lim and Dok-ki Kim at Seoul National University, and he then studied with Per Borin at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart in Germany.
